I enjoyed doing this painting of a little girl for my Digital Nuts painter group. I used Corel Painter X3 and had to really boost up the values and detail. (This was posted earlier and I made several changes with the new Painter 2015)

Corel Painter X3 Pet Portraits

I painted this portrait as an assignment from a Digital Painting group I am a part of at Yahoo.com. The Digital Nuts group is comprised of 1500+ digital artists working in a number of different paint programs (including iPad and Android tablets). Each week we have seven photos to choose from to paint. Members can submit photos as “targets” for the group. It’s a great learning experience! BrotherandSisterNutcrackerPainterFinalLevels1000pxI had the privilege of being asked to be a guest blogger for Karen Sperling’s Blog (artistrymag.com). As a student in her online course “Turning Photos into Classic Paintings using Corel Painter” I have been refining a my digital workflow to create art using both her techniques and some of her digital brushes. Karen has also written several books on Corel Painter (available on her site or Amazon.com) and I highly recommend them as well. Here is the link to my blog post on her site.
