“Down By the Riverside” Acrylic Collage with Colored Pencils 8″x10″

Please share...

Mixed media collage with acrylic and photos from my family. I really enjoyed developing the texture with Golden Acrylic Gel Medium (Matte) and a glaze of Burnt Umber. This was inspired by trying an ink-jet transfer technique which became the underpainting and suggested the shapes and patterns. I then added cardboard (actually the back of a Mountain Dew carton), some clipping from some of my music books and finally I copied an old photo from the family album onto parchment paper to add the scene of my grandmother on the beach! Fun!

“Peaceful” 5″x7″ Acrylic Collage with Mat

Please share...

This 5″x7″ collage used the cruciform as a basis for it’s composition. I really like the way it all holds together. In some small way I think it evokes peaceful thoughts. Maybe it’s the organization of the elements that support each other. Just like in life we support each other…

I used pieces of cardboard, music sheets, a crushed bag I found on the street (people probably just thought I was being a good citizen picking up all the litter!) Acrylic paint, matte medium and a bit of a glaze with acrylic medium and burnt umber finished it off.

Size: 5″x7″ mounted on 14″x18″ double mat

Price: $125 . Free USPS postage.

“Josh – Abide With Me” Acrylic, Gouache and Collage 3 3/4″ x 5 3/8″ on Canvas

This little canvas combines gouache, acrylic and collage. I really enjoyed trying to capture the heart of Josh Perry, a worship leader I know. I took a picture of him one day as he was warming up. His goal in worship is to lead people into a closer and closer relationship with Jesus!

“For all Generations” 8″x10″ Collage

“You have been our dwelling place in all generations…” was the inspiration for this collage. What a perfect picture of our Father’s love! I used scraps of paper from a garage sale where we bought a big box of sewing supplies, pages from an old music book, and an antique family photo. This painting has a lot of wonderful texture…like life itself! Painted in acrylic and colored pencils.

American Collage 5″x7″ Acrylic on Masonite

Acrylic Collage on masonite. This was really a fun collage to do. It somewhat meanders in it’s images and invokes memories from the past the longer you look at it! Made with scraps of paper, found objects and acrylic paint. I use Liquitex matte medium to bond materials to the board and then enhance the image with ink, acrylics and even scans from previous collages. I sometimes print on rice paper and then use these scraps to add to the design.

Molly Collage 5×7 Acrylic on Ampersand Board

Please share...

This collage was made from bits and pieces of paper I had around the house or that I found walking the neighborhood. I used acrylic paint to do the layout and add color and form. Painted on Ampersand Clayboard. I did a digital print with colorfast inks on rice paper for the image of Molly, the wonderdog, and painted it in with acrylic medium. The rice paper almost dissapears leaving the image. Very cool!

Everlasting to Everlasting – Acrylic collage 8″x10″

This 8″x10″ collage is done with acrylics and tidbits of memories from family photos and little bits and pieces I picked up on my walks around the neighborhood. A scrap of paper here, a twig, a wrapper. I sometimes scan other collages I’ve done to create elements that are then fixed to the panel with acrylic medium. These are quite personal and express events and people in my life.
