What a beautiful Easter today. Carol and I sat on the deck this afternoon and enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation. The weather has been brutal this winter and the Dogwoods have really suffered. One of our older Dogwood trees didn’t live and is barren amidst others that are usually brilliant on Easter every year. Those that survived are just now sending out reluctant buds. But blooming next to the tree that didn’t make it, we saw this remarkable little Dogwood flower, with its cross-shaped petals pointing to heaven. I realized it would never have been noticed if the winter had been warm and it was now surrounded by thousands of perfect blossoms. It was like God said, “this is your day to shine for Me!”
Jesus was like that. He suffered and died in a harsh and brutal world so His face could shine like this flower when he rose from the dead on Easter morning about 2000 years ago! And I rose from the dead when I saw His face in His Word and trusted Him.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. All all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”
